In a surprise to many in the industry, Yahoo! Japan has announced that it will not be using Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s services for its search portal.

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) stocks are currently standing at 26.02 as of 7/27/2010, which equates to a -0.095 – -0.36% change over the previous trading day.

In what looks to be a snub to Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) from Yahoo! Japan, the search portal has decided to use Google’s advertising and search platform.

Yahoo! Inc is not a majority owner of Yahoo! Japan, as they run a joint venture with Softbank, the biggest ISP in the country. Yahoo! Inc has a worldwide partnership with Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), which has been approved by regulators who saw it as a way of producing competition for Google’s search dominance.
